Abstract The development and introduction of successful new products at an increasingly faster pace has become the focal point of industrial competition. In today's market environment, without well designed, effectively developed and quick introduction of new products, a firm's prosperity is very much limited. The objective is to develop a series of cases illustrating the approaches taken by Indian companies for pursuing effective new product development and use these to suggest improved approaches.
