The objectives of the study are: (i) to develop a suitable methodology for assessing fiscal sustainability of debt of states in India, identifying major factors; (ii) to undertake case studies of six states; (iii) to make projections of state finances for the six states; and (iv) to suggest a model programme of reforms and policy inventions for resolving debt related issues in the light of the case studies. |
