The availability of investment is essential for growth. The state of Bihar is only recently being seen as one where growth is feasible; however, the flow of investment is still not adequate. The experience of states where the investment climate is seen to be superior needs to be carefully studied to find out whether these practices could be duplicated in Bihar. It is often felt that it is the single window clearance system which is largely responsible for the investment climate being appropriate for the flow of investment. This study is to investigate how far this is true in the state of Gujarat and to examine whether there are some other preconditions which make the single window system effective. |
