Abstract |
ASHA is the key element in the strategy of NRHM to achieve the MDGs of IMR and MMR reduction in India. Previous research has revealed several weaknesses in the performance of ASHAs in the rural areas. Based on the review of best practices internationally and on the intensive field work in Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and U.P., specific recommendations are made to the International Advisory Panel for NRHM, to improve the performance of ASHA in rural India. |
