Abstract |
Pathology laboratory investigations are assuming more and more importance these days due to the increasing dependence on investigation results for clinical interventions. It is believed that 75 to 80 per cent of medical decisions are made based on lab investigation findings. Hospital-based labs and standalone labs operate differently. It is also true that big labs and small labs operate differently. These developments call for an effective and efficient management of pathology laboratories. In this research project, our objective is to understand the nature, magnitude and complexity of managerial challenges faced by hospital-based labs as well as standalone labs, both big and small. The findings would lead to the design, development and delivery of a Capacity Development Programs for Lab Management. |
