| Abstract |
The Government of Gujarat (GoG) was interested in exploring the option of health insurance to cover maternity risk. The Department of Health and Family Welfare (DoHFW) had invited proposals from insurance companies to suggest a possible framework. A workshop of all stakeholders was organized to discuss these proposals and a number of suggestions were made. Based on the discussion it was decided to explore the option of initiating the scheme of insurance through pilots which would be implemented by NGOs. The purpose of the study is to prepare a detailed report outlining various options and how the proposed approach of pilots will take care of the concerns of stakeholders. |
