| Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to overview the experience of cooperatives in India over last 100 years and especially since India’s Independence with the Indian farmer as the focus. It attempts to find out whether and how the Indian farmer has gained or not gained in terms of improvement of his economic well-being through cooperatives. The study is reviewing the vast literature on the growth of cooperatives in India, cooperatives in India, cooperative legislation, business development planning, cooperative education and training, use of MIS, cooperative marketing and cooperative finance. |
