Abstract |
The objectives are to:
• create awareness among the institutional leaders as well as other stakeholders about the potential of grassroots innovations and traditional knowledge for achieving sustainable development alternatives;
• explore the opportunities for blending formal and informal science to add value to local knowledge and generate viable livelihood options for people at the grassroots level;
• develop dissemination strategies for public domain grassroots innovations and traditional knowledge practices already validated by NIF and other institutions;
• create sensitivity about ethical issues in accessing, documenting and disseminating people’s knowledge without violating their knowledge rights; and
• understand the role of intellectual property right systems for protecting the knowledge rights of grassroots innovators and outstanding traditional knowledge holders.
