Abstract This study will focus on the changes in the managerial role profile through the 70s, 80s, and 90s and the emerging managerial profile of this decade. The managerial role profile measures attitudes on: • responsibility • authority, hierarchy, and organization structure • equality, lateral linkages, and group and team work • social and managerial identity anchored in the social system or large and mammoth organizations The managerial role profile measures managerial role behaviour on: • decision making • interface upward, downward, and laterally • communication and information dissemination and sharing • evaluation of behaviour and performance • rewards and punishments Statistical analysis is done with patterns and similarities and differences in: • MNCs • family owned and managed organizations • public sector organizations Already there is a visible shift in the managerial role profile from the 70s onwards. The focus is to identify the extent of professionalism and identify management knowledge, attitudes, and interventions to facilitate professionalism.
